PIMIÖ
Live analog photography on stage
PIMIÖ is a physical and visual research exploring the processes of analog photography executed live on the stage.
A collaboration between the visual / performing artist Luis Sartori do Vale, the photographer André Baumecker and the light designer Jere Mönkkönen, Pimiö is an investigation on the photography’s ability to evoke memories, and how the ‘truth’ can be forgotten in the act of remembering.
In Pimiö, the stage is transformed into a camera obscura and a photographic darkroom, interpolating experimental and traditional photographic printing techniques with movement, object manipulation and magic.
The images are composed, photographed, developed and shown live on stage, manipulating paper, chemistry and light. The artworks created during the process reveal a live documentation of the movements, actions & objects on stage, serving as a ‘time machine’, registering what risks getting lost into oblivion.
